Riga (Latvia)

The City of Riga is the capital of Latvia, its highest decision-making body being the City Council which is elected in general elections. As one of the city’s administrative arms, the MILE project is implemented by a central municipal administration unit – the Neighbourhood Residents Centre (AIC). The AIC was established in 2021 and provides services of uniform quality and based on residents’ needs in the entire territory of the city while facilitating citizen participation and the effective development of its neighbourhoods. There are two departments within AIC: the “Methodology and Business Coordination Department” and the “Neighbourhood Development, Society Integration and Customer Service Department”. The latter gives citizens access to all information on integration and participation issues and support to different types of non-governmental organisations.
